Friends of Burford Primary School (FOBPS)

Friends of Burford Primary School is an organisation made up of parents and staff and it is our role to help encourage closer links between home and school. We are best known for our great fundraising events which always prove to be a great way for teachers, parents and pupils to come together.

How are we organised?

FOBPS is mainly made up of parents, with the help of Zoe Duff (Windrush Teacher) and a couple of the Governors. Louisa Swann is our Chair person, Rachael Barton is our Treasurer and Lizanne Harris, our Secretary. The rest of our members are all volunteers who give up their time and provide their skills to help raise money for our school.

How is money raised?

We raise most of our money through events which include our Annual Ball (that is held in the beautiful St John the Baptist Church) a Summer Fete, and a Christmas Bazaar. Other FOBPS events include Cook for Books, hot chocolate or Ice Cream Fridays and much more. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas and volunteers, so if you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear from you.

How is money spent?

We work very closely with Jenny Dyer (Head Teacher,) Sally Hunt (Business Manager) and all the teachers to decide how our funding is allocated. This includes contributing to school trips, playground equipment, and even help with the redevelopment of school grounds. Our main fundraising campaign at the moment is to help improve the school’s paddock area. We always try to provide extra ‘fun things’ that make learning more interesting and exciting for the children.

How can you help FOBPS?

There are many different ways you can help, whether you have lots of time on your hands or would like to contribute as and when you’re able to. We hold our meetings roughly every 6 weeks and are very relaxed with no obligation to attend each session. If you feel you can’t commit to a large role, you may want to be involved in a smaller but equally important way (eg running a stall at the summer fair, baking for a cake sale). Or you can always support FOBPS events by simply turning up, it all counts.

Please let us know if you’d like to join our FOBPS team or would like to help us.
