Friends of Burford Primary School (FOBPS)

Who we are:

The Friends of Burford Primary School (FOBPS) is a voluntary group of parents, carers and friends of children at the school. Its aim is to raise money for specific projects needed at school, not covered by school funds. These are often things that could not otherwise be bought or would divert funds away from other budget priorities. Our remit is to organise events for the children’s enjoyment with the goal of supporting and enhancing the curriculum, and to promote the good reputation of the school in the local community.

Mission Statement:

  • Develop effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school
  • Arrange events and activities that raise funds for equipment and projects in school to enhance the education of the pupils
  • Organise social events for the enjoyment of the pupils, their families and the wider community.
  • Support the school in making the leaving year a special one for pupils.

What we do:

Throughout the academic year, FOBPS arrange a variety of events which raise money for school funds and just as importantly enable pupils, parents, and teachers to have some fun together. The activities that are held during the year include something for parents/carers as well as the children. They generally include a Christmas Event, Summer Event, Halloween Disco, Movie Nights and Hot Chocolate/Ice Cream Sales. Every 18 months we hold a Charity Ball in the St John the Baptist Church, which is extremely popular and our biggest fundraiser. All the events rely on the generous support of parents/carers and everyone is most welcome to participate in whichever way they prefer.

FOBPS Ongoing Commitments:

  • Leavers trip
  • Hoodies/ Yearbooks for Leavers
  • Class Christmas/End of Year party donation
  • Sports Day Ice Cream/Snacks
  • Christmas Pantomime Trip
  • Annual end of year Balloon Race

We need you:

The committee usually meet about once a term and meetings are currently held straight after school, rarely lasting more than an hour. Children are welcome to stay during the meeting or can be booked into after school club free of charge, to avoid any child care issues. We are all busy people, mostly working parents; not everyone can attend every meeting but minutes are sent out after the event to keep everyone up to date.
