Welcome to Windrush Class!
This week in Windrush Class, we have focused on getting to the know the children and teaching them new routines. Whilst the children have had time to explore their new environment and rekindle friendships, Mrs Godfrey, Ms Collett and myself have been carrying out phonic and maths assessments ready for more formal learning to take place over the next few weeks. To help support this move we have been practising sitting and listening at our desks completing a range of different activities. Some of these activities have included:
- Listening to stories and predicting what happens next
- Discussing and agreeing on class rules
- Playing turn taking games such as snakes and ladders
So far, all of the children have made a great start to the year and are coping with all the changes brilliantly. Ms Collett, Mrs Godfrey and myself are very pleased and proud with how well they have settled in. We look forward to working with you and your child over the coming months.
