BPS World Book Day 2018 – A Celebration of all things Julia Donaldson!
We have had a spelendid day full of excitement and enthusiasm for a bit of a different day at school!
The day started with our traditional hot seating assembly where the adults took a seat at the front ready to get into character. The adults threw themselves into the spirit as ever and we had some great characters to hotseat including witches, frogs, giants, ladybirds and many more. It was fantastic to see all the children dressed as their favourite Julia Donaldson characters, clearly lots of creative ideas and effort went into the costumes- thank you parents!
We enjoyed many activities as a whole school from ‘Stop, drop and read’ to a secret story time with hot chocolate. In classes, children were enjoying activities linking to their class books which were designed to further inspire a love of books and reading.
I would like to thank our superb Catering Manager, Mrs Ralphs, who prepared an awesome Gruffalo lunch for everyone, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Huge thanks also go to Mrs Harris who chairs our FOBPS team for donating book token prizes for the most creative costume ideas and for helping organise the hot chocolate across all of our ‘Secret Storytime, locations around the school.
What a great day of celebration for books, reading and storytelling.
