Headteacher’s Welcome

I am very pleased to welcome you to Burford Primary School, a happy and welcoming place where children are well supported and cared for as they grow and develop as individuals. We pride ourselves in providing an excellent learning environment for children from Burford and the surrounding areas. Following recent expansion, we have 145+ children in 5 classes. This includes nursery provision for up to 10 children who learn alongside our Reception class. We also have breakfast and after school provision on site.

Burford Primary is a vibrant and nurturing school community offering an excellent learning environment that seeks to provide all with a wealth of rich curriculum opportunities that celebrate a love of learning both within the classroom and through regular use of our beautiful and extensive outdoor space. Our vision is for all children to be equipped with the tools to give and receive respect, achieve their full potential and aspire to great things for both now and what comes next. Inspiring and supporting confident, independent and enthusiastic learners for life is central to all that we do.

We value teachers and parents working together to support the learning of all pupils. There is regular, formal and informal communication between home and school to support strong parental engagement. We monitor every child’s progress carefully, putting support or challenge in place when needed. We value and celebrate all forms of achievement through assemblies, concerts, community and sporting activities, House Points, Star of the Week Certificates and Values Awards. Our positive behaviour policy also ensures that good choices and hard work are well rewarded.

School is well supported by an enthusiastic and effective Governing Body and we are proud to be a Primary Academy within the Oxfordshire Diocesan Schools Trust (ODST), where we work in meaningful partnership with other ODST schools, share best practice and support of one another; with the added benefit of central resources provided by the Oxford Diocese.

We would very much like to share our vision and enthusiasm for learning with you and welcome anyone interested in joining our school to contact us to arrange a visit when you can see directly what makes Burford Primary such a special place.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our website and look forward to welcoming you to our school.
