Warwick Class is the home of our Foundation Stage.
We welcome up to 10 children in our Nursery (from the term after their third birthday) and 20 children in our Reception. The children spend time learning with their age group, and within the whole class, meaning that our nursery children have a very smooth transition when they begin their Reception Year.
We adapt our long term planning based on the children’s interests, ensuring a strong focus on the prime areas of learning: Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development, alongside the four specific areas of learning: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. Our curriculum plan can be found by following the link below. We teach systematic synthetic phonics using Read Write Inc., more information can also be found below. We teach Maths using the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Maths (NCETM) and BBO Maths Mastery programme.
Long term plans
To ensure children do not repeat curriculum content, we follow a two year rolling programme

At Burford Primary School, we ensure that our early years setting is driven by the four guiding principles:
- every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured
- children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships
- children learn and develop well in enabling environments with teaching and support from adults, who respond to their individual interests and needs and help them to build their learning over time. Children benefit from a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.
- importance of learning and development. Children develop and learn at different rates.
